Educational help

A ray of hope in the distance.
Education is an important step in the fight against poverty, especially for the men of the low caste. The Peter Bachmann Foundation supports and encourages the population to realise that through education it is possible to develop new perspectives and achieve a new self-confidence. In 1997 a young computer student, Sarfan, asked the foundation to help finance his studies. After his succesful graduation he once again contacted the foundation, this time for assistance in starting a computer school at Kekirawa a rather isolated town close to Anuradhapura. In 2002 Sarfan and Peter Bachmann were able to present 62 first diplomas to the successful graduates. The computer school is an excellent example of how self-sufficiency can work.
